Kuv muaj ib tug phauj hnub nyoog li ntawm early 40s, nws nyiam
gambling tiag tiag li. Khwv nyiaj npaum cas yeej tsis txaus nws coj
mus pov rau lub qhov ntawd li. Kuv hais npaum cas los nws yeej tias
nws yuav tsis ua lawm tabsis tos koj hnov xwb nws twb rov mus gambling
thiab rov muaj npas-ham dua lawm thiab xwb.
Nej puas muaj tswv yim li cas pab kom nwg tseg tau txoj niag kev khib
xuab no thiab?

ktha,
Gambling is an illness too so people who are addicted need your
support and care to get better. Patience and lots of love will help
but eventually you will need to give them the tough love, to shake and
wake them up from their deep sleep. I am not a counselor but I have
used this with some close friends and it helps slow them down. See if
it maks sense to you:
1. Let her know that you truly care about her but you can't accept her
action. You love her but not what she's doing to herself and others
around her.
2. Make it clear from the beginning that you will be there for her no
matter what but you will never provide her money to pay for her
gambling debt. Show her not just tell her as best you can that you
don't have money to spare.
3. Find counseling service for her and offer to go to counseling with
her.

hnub...
It is called "sib tuav te mus ua ke los ua ke." When some one is that
sick you have to literally take her/him by the hand and walk it
through...
FYI, I did not write the suggestion for you to disagree upon...it is
just email suggestions...ktha can either choose to laugh at them, use
them or simply just ignore them...the end of the story...

HK,
No need...one's philosophical and the other's real life
experience...in my life experience, both compliment one another will
if use it appropriately and that the timing is right on...
Philosophically speaking, there's no peace...it is an ideal that
cannot be achieved as long as we're living and breathing, right?

Tzianeng,
Your method is not bad but too risky. You might end up addicted to
gamble yourself.
katha,
My suggestion is to find an alternative activities for her instead.
Let's say, invite her and her family to a camping trip, to a picnic,
to a fishing trip and so on. These activities will at least help cuts
some of her time to gamble, and they might slowly change her interest
from gambling to other activities. Sometimes, start a poker ring at
home also helps, but again, this might also ruin your own life if you
can't control yourself.

Hnubkaj,
You've got very good strategies there. Often times people chose
gambling because they have family or personal problems which they have
no one to turn to. Once they addicted, then it becomes a completely...
