I create my family tree using family tree maker software. I am just
wondering every Hmong knows that we are interrelated through
marriage. For example, my grand father married my grand mother, the
software asks for her father, her siblings, uncle etc as well as my
father and his sibling. I am positively that if we create our own
family tree, trace both paternal and maternal side, we would know that
every one of us are cousin. What do you guys think?

In Australia, the average age of first time mothers is now 31, the
highest figure on record. This increase reflects a shift in society
where children are staying at home well into their 20s (68%% in 2006)
to build an education and then further defer parenthood whilst growing
their careers and developing financial stability.
The impact of these social changes is significant as 1 in 6 couples
face infertility issues and this is increased with age. A late start
reduces the chances of having any children and almost removes any
chance of a big’ family.
An easy fix suggested by some is to freeze a woman’s eggs whilst she
is in her more fertile 20s but this is fraught with ethical issues as
well as legal issues as current data shows this is not the insurance
policy that it may seem. Each egg has between a 5%% and 10%% chance of
producing a viable pregnancy so it would take, on average, 20 eggs to
be successful. An average stimulated IVF cycle and oocyte retrieval
yields less than 10 eggs and 2-3 cycles are required to freeze enough
eggs for a future pregnancy (cost around $20,000 in OZ), and even
then there would be no guarantees when they come to use them.

Louise Brown was the first ever IVF (test-tube) baby born on 25th
July, 1978.
Louise Brown’s birth’ came after 12 years of research by Dr Robert
Edwards and the late Or Patrick Steptoe, based at Cambridge and Oldham
in the UK respectively. Her birth made headlines all around the world
as will celebrations marking her 30th birthday. IVF Centres around the
world join the celebrations which have lead to over 3 million babies
being born from IVF since that day. In Australia, over 60,000 children
have resulted from IVF.
Any Lao/HMong IVF baby?
