  Gran Torino Receives an A-

ROLLING STONE
by Peter Travers

Gran Torino

Starring: Clint Eastwood, Christopher Carley, Bee Vang, Bee Vang,
Brian Haley

Directed by: Clint Eastwood

2008 Warner Bros. Pictures/Village Roadshow Drama

Clint Eastwood has hinted that his role as bigoted Korean War veteran
Walt Kowalski — a gun-toting widower living in Detroit near the
struggling Ford auto plant and even nearer to the Asian immigrants
crowding him out of his run-down, racially mixed hood — may be his
last role as an actor. Eastwood, 78, has two Oscars for directing
Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby, and two nominations for starring
in them. But an Oscar for acting? Not yet. Get busy, Academy.

I don't think Eastwood will ever turn down a juicy role. But Gran

The higher the education is the higher the bride price in Hmong tradition

Author: peacock
Date: Dec 25, 2008 23:57

Hi, I thought you might want to read this article.

In traditional Hmong culture, the bride and groom's families will
negotiate a "wedding gift," "dowry" or "ceremony price" that has
averaged $5,000 to $8,000, and has gone as high as $25,000 for a Hmong
bride who graduated from Stanford, 2006.

http://news.newamericamedia.org/news/view_article.html?article_id=480714d0f85a29...

**********************************
The bride price for the Hmong community in the United States is set up
to date between $5000.00 to $16000.00(not including travel expenses)
due to the inflation and economic.

Many Hmong feminists of the Hmong Women Associations in the states
enjoyed the higher bride price and failed to protect their daughters.
They are good at calling the authorities to arrest their husbands and
encouraging their fellow female to fill for divorce to create for more
jobs and to qualify for state and federal grants.

Any industrial nation will create all kind of stress. Stress causes
people to feel angy, agitate, and restless.

Drug, alcohol, and women are parts of the stress release agents. It
only lasts for the moment and then you become hook to it.

Being "hook" is the nature of the business.
