Where has everybody gone?

What happened to this newsgroup? Way back when this newsgroup first
formed, it was a lot more busy. I take it that people have either lost
interest in Hawaii, or found another place(s) to discuss.

It's the Babylonian thing I've been worried about since websites
started hosting forums and people learned how to create new ones at
the alt. level on usenet. Alas. More people meeting in more places,
but in smaller groups. There must be some number of writers to make a
group interesting, and I'm afraid that ACH has seen much more
interesting days.

Where has everybody gone? Maybe people should be made aware that there
is another place to discuss Hawaii? Is this newsgroup "just another
place", or is there something special about it? I'd like to think
there is.

I do think that usenet is kinda passe now, compared to how it was back in
1995... Who wants to be limited to text only, no emoticons.. netcops who
watch quoted material... ^_^

Still... SCH can be a good place to discuss Hawaii... no frills, low
bandwidth.

Does anyone view this group on a PDA?

omg, that was soooo long ago... I think I remember something about runny
haupia, too...

The ACHLM t-shirt... I think I still have mines stuffed in the drawer
somewhere... those were good times... different kine drama back then. I
don't think too many of us old guys are here anymore. We're all so old
and creaky now. heh...

I dunno, but since I started playing in these backyards, there has been an
explosion of newsgroups. Also, it seems to me, that if we want to find out
about what is happening in Hawaii, there are sites that are devoted to
telling us about that. And just recently, the Honolulu Advertiser has
started what I think of as interesing new addition, and that is allowing
anyone to make comments about the news of the day. So, maybe it is because
we have so many other choices.....

How about these reasons?

For me it is combination of factors but basically it boils down
to what methods I am using to access Usenet. I just can't find
a good method that works for me all the time. I do read some
newsgroups from time to time but I rarely post now a days.

Well, as I'm concerned, this is about the first time in a week or
two that I check any newsgroups whatsoever, and this is still the
first
one to check (most of the time). Things have gotten a bit busier,
finger joints have gotten a bit older, typing isn't what it was,
shoulder hurts when I do too much mouse work.
