I just thought that I would list the latest topics in
the last month. For the new visitor to this ng, you can
get an idea of the topics discussed in the past by
looking at this list. If you were to select subject
headings by the topic, then you would have an idea
which threads are associated with the topic. Then you
should do a select based on the text in the thread
itself because not all postings in the thread have a
topic associated with the text in the subject heading.
I've added the topics to a spreadsheet so that it is
easy to do a sort when it comes time to do the posting.
macadamia nuts
Obama Campaign
tropic forests
Varroa Mite

Larry... an example: the subject heading "(Obama
Campaign) Inouye" is different from the subject heading
"Inouye". The difference is the topic "Obama Campaign".
To find all the postings to the thread, you would need
to select messages for the string "Inouye" rather than
the topic. How would you re-state the sentence? Glad
you take an interest in this. Hope other posters to
this ng do understand the sentence.

Different people use different software to read and post
articles to Usenet so however you choose to index threads
may or may not work for someone else.
I also kind of wondering why certain threads have redundant
words in the thread title like:
(Kona Coffee) Kona Coffee Farmers
wouldn't one of the following be better:

I don't think that usenet has any way to index threads.
Of course, you could write an application to do that to
work with some commonalities of text such as the one
you mention below, and some guidance by the user.

I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. My best
guess is
that Alvin is using a newsreader that doesn't thread, so he's trying to
help out by telling others to add (topics) to Subject titles to group
discussions together. I'm sure he's trying to help, not hurt.
I read SCH with slrn in the Lavanet shell. It threads fine, for me.

I read SCH with pine in the Lavanet shell. It threads
fine, but the threading is not accurate. You're the
first person who has reported on this to me. Michael
has said to me that he's known about inaccurate
threading since day one and I missed the boat on that
message.
