Super Ferry....

It's kind of ominous waiting for the court case in
Cardoza's court to make progress... Meanwhile
Star-Bulletin Honolulu Lite columnist Memminger is
making lite of it with a rumor that one of the Kauai
leaders Albertini saying that it isn't worth 10 years
in prison to stop the ferry. Memminger, if he's trying
to be another Andy Rooney, isn't very funny. But it's
too bad that it has come to thi
-- where people have to
break the law to get some justice.

This afternoon, Cardoza lifted the injunction. What the ferry will
leave in its wake is anyone's guess. May it be beneficial to the
people, and at least harmless to the marine life. Try, you like. No
like, return. As long as the giant ship does not do irreparable harm.
That is how I read the judge's decision. We need a testing period for
the environmental impact to be honestly assessed.

What's the alternative? Hawaii is struggling under the weight of an archaic
transportation system. Why should the only option for interisland travel be
air travel? I will enjoy being able to drive my car onto the Super Ferry,
and then driving around Maui. No need to waste money on a rental car that
usually does not suit my needs.

Good point, lots of whales in Alaska... I wonder where else ferries operate
where there are a lot of whales?
