Yes, but much less than they used to. In fact, given da choice, why
would anyone with a car ever fly to Maui from Oahu? When you figure
out the cost of flying, the delays at the airport, standing in line
for a rental car, and the cost of renting/insuring a car, only an
idiot would fly anymore. This time, the squeaky propeller won the
contest. Give the airlines credit for knowing how to use da law. If
this were the mainland, e.g., Brooklyn, the superferry would have
given the airlines a piece of da action. Why can't Hawaiians learn
business 101 concepts? Bribery and co-optation work wonders.

If the ferry is allowed to succeed (keyword: allowed) I think that the
existing competing industries will experience a shake up. Less
efficient and thus less competitive players will be hit the hardest...
