For all I know it hasn't, but as all the mites found so far were in
wild
hives an the area vaguely between the port and the airport I wouldn't
be surprised if it's cars shipped by barge (how else do you think
cars get here?), new or used, private or rental. I've been told it's
cheaper
to fly to Oahu, buy a used car there and have it shipped over than
to buy a used car here, so it doesn't even have to be car dealerships
or car rental places. If you're in the market for a used 4WD truck it
may be cheaper to ship it all the way from the mainland.

I'd guess that that's how the varroa mites got here.

I think it's time that we get some more Agricultural inspection
on things being shipped in rather than only on things being
shipped out ...
