Happy fourth....

Just thinking that Honolulu people have a dinner party at home today
or at the beach. At nite there are some fireworks at Ala Moana and
Pearl Harbor. Can barely see them from my home. But could go up the
hill for a better view. And there is a popular parade in Kailua during
the day. Just what do people on the outer islands do?

Hilo was true to its reputation, it started downpouring (up on the
hill
where we are) in the middle of it. We were still cooking and our
daughter
came running home in the middle of the fireworks. We can see some
of it from home again, but there's still to much trees in the way -
mostly
our own these days -.

Belated Happy 4th,

Maren

Basically the same thing. Since we are not allowed to have our own
fireworks, those who want to see a fireworks display, go to some area
that
has them.

We went out for coffee afterwards and was surprised by the display in
the Pearl City direction from the Waimalu shopping plaza (Kaahumanu).
Looks like it came from the Wapio park area or closer. I was amazed
because we are so careful of brush fires in the drier and sunnier
Leeward area.

You're missing out on the possible house fires that can be caused. :)
Less fire cracker crowd on July Fourth in the neighborhood, but I
still check the roof for rockets at bed time. Last nite I forgot but
the house is still up-- so I guess it is OK.

Yes, but since I am old enough to remember when such use was not banned
from
use, there was a time when you could drive up to Tantalus and watch the
entire sckyline light up with everyone firing off their fireworkds. It was
a sight to see.
