they are silk printed shirts to be made around the world and the other

silk printed shirt could be made by famous comapny like Guy Laroche
etc and lwts see who can help in this business. The other issue is the
collaboation between books author Willaim O Neil, how to make money in

Singapore PM speaks on situation in Burma

Author: bmoore
Date: May 30, 2008 15:48

http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/world/international-myanmar-cyclone.html?ref=worl...

Singapore said Myanmar's generals were wary of admitting foreign aid
workers because it would show they were not capable of handling the
disaster.

"The military leaders surely know that foreign aid will save lives and
help to rebuild the devastated areas. But they also fear the political
consequence of opening up the disaster zone to international aid
teams," Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said at a security conference
in Singapore.

"This might show up their own incapability, and undermine their
credibility and legitimacy," he said.

Four weeks after the disaster, the United Nations says fewer than half
of the 2.4 million people affected by the cyclone have received help
from the government, or international or local aid groups.

A shortage of flat-bottomed boats is hampering delivery of aid, the
European Union executive said on Friday, with little or no aid
reaching isolated rural communities.

Free press as the "fourth estate": It fails the reality test

Author: ltlee1
Date: May 30, 2008 14:16

From today's NYT,

"In his new memoir, “What Happened,” Scott McClellan, the former White
House press secretary, said the national news media neglected their
watchdog role in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, calling reporters
“complicit enablers” of the Bush administration’s push for war.
Surprisingly, some prominent journalists have agreed."

The so called American free press, rather than functioning as the
fourth estate, it functions as the war enabler snaring America into a
brutal and unnecessary war.

Of course, members of the press can tell you all kinds of reasons why
the so called free press does not work as one has imagined. But
basically, the concept of the press as the fourth estate is a fantasy.
It was not, is not, and never will be the four estate.

Democracy begins with the people. Only the people can pressure the
government to do things or not to do things. Not the journalists or
the presses. And the presses are not representing the people.
Journalists and their employers represent themselves, i.e. their
bottomline.

I am a naturalized US citizen. I am from Shanghai, China. I
received my Ph.D. degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-
Madison
in
December 2000. I have no criminal record. The legal document
indicates
that I have never been a suspect of any crime. But s since November
1995, my basic human rights have
been seriously abused by police officers of the Madison Police
Department (hereafter MPD), individual police officers in the State
of
Maryland, the Secret Service Agents in Washington DC and individual
New York police officers when I have lived in Madison, Wisconsin,
Maryland, Washington DC and New York City, respectively. I have been
living in New York City since March 2001. In addition, I assume that
the
police officers also have had many civilians involved in the alleged
crimes...

(AP) U.S. authorities are investigating whether Chinese officials
secretly copied the contents of a government laptop computer during a
visit to China by Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez and used the
information to try to hack into Commerce computers, officials and

Surreptitious copying is believed to have occurred when a laptop was

Surviving on the margins in China

Earthquake survivors scavenge amid the ruins

Associated Press
Friday, May 30, 2008

QINGCHUAN, China -- Dozens of men and women swarm over the mounds of
debris of this ruined city, an eerie replay of the early days
following China's devastating earthquake.

They are not searching for the missing and dead from the May 12 quake,
which killed tens of thousands. Nor are they looking for lost
belongings.

Instead, many are scavenging for any bit of scrap metal to sell so
they can buy food and other necessities.

Supplies of food and water are adequate for now, but shelter is
limited, with a severe shortage of tents. The longer-term need for
jobs and income has yet to be addressed by China's leaders.
