Teenage migrant worker gang raped, survives

IMNA

July 1, 2008

A 16-year old Burmese migrant worker survived with help from people
when she regained consciousness in a bush after a gang in Samut Sakhon
Province Southern Thailand raped her for four days and beat her up.

A cotton factory worker, she was hospitalized. She was taken away by
the gang who worked at the same factory on June 22. She claimed that
she was raped by two Thai men and a Burmese.

She is being treated at Samut Sakhon hospital since Thursday, June 26
after the leader of workers found her in a bush inside the factory
compound which is about 100 acres, according to her relative Nai Pi Ya
Mon.

She was severely beaten on the head and other parts of body by the
gang who wanted to kill her after torturing and raping her to hide
evidence.

"She will be operated in her mouth in the hospital. Three of her
teeth were broken and she cannot eat food properly because of wounds

Thanpyuzayart TPDC makes money cremating cyclone dead

IMNA
July 1, 2008

Corruption is so deep rooted in Myanmar that money was made even while
cremating bodies of the dead in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis.

The Thanpyuzayart Township Peace and Development Council TPDC gave an
account of the expenditure last week for cremating bodies floating
into the Mon state coastline. But there was no mention where the rest
of the money which was collected from residents went, said a source
close to them.

Before the cremation the TPDC collected 1000 Kyat from each family in
town which has over 6000 households. The TPDC told town residents to
hire people for the cremation during the end of May.

The TPDC accounted for 442,000 Kyat spent for cremating 389 bodies, a
source closed to the TPDC said.

A TPDC report said they used 25 gallons of diesel for burning the
bodies, 19 gallons for a boat and truck to carry the bodies and bought
25 sacks of lime stone and some other material.

Why do they beat up opposition - simple it no secret !!!

Why does the junta / the generals beat up the students, monks and the
opposition democrats. It simple - Because they are afraid of opposition. The
students and monks ask too many question; too embarrassing for the bloody
junta and the self promoted generals to answer. They don't want opposition.
They want to rule forever in peace the corrupted way as they pleases like
mugabe irrespective of whether the people like it or not. Look at the way
they went about with the referendum. Obvious they the generals are not for
the people; not off the people and not by the people and the people are not
for them. They know that full well but being power drunk they are unable to
do the right thing by the people. The justice in the Haig is waiting to
question than bloody shwe for his murders, rapes...
