Well, at least she didn't try to kill a fellow astronaut's girlfriend:
http://www.sciam.com/blog/60-second-science/post.cfm?id=frances-first-woman-in-space...
"On the ISS, she helped swap out an emergency Soyuz spacecraft that's
always docked at the station in case of emergency for a new one. After
returning, Haignere described the experience as 'a challenging and
intensely fulfilling experience.' "
There's the problem, right there.
After she returned, she probably could never deal with the fact that as
a woman she only had the female part of a docking system, and began to
suffer from "probe envy".

Crunch time is coming up in a couple of weeks for those folks. The
transition team did a lot of early canvassing so I expect a team out of
the gate faster than anything previously experienced by the US public.
In the meantime I notice that MLK day is sandwiched in there, so who
knows what kind of a party it's gonna be. Winter parties generally are
fairly mild. I expect to see a national hangover on January 21st and
hopefully if Obama's people are taking their vacations now and don't do
any real hard partying on inauguration weekend, we should start seeing
executive orders on a variety of top level stuff by Friday at least.
He needs to sort that mess out over at NASA like the very first day.

I was very impressed with Obama's election machine.
But the post-election game is not very obvious.
1) He seems to really, really _BELIEVE_ in AGW.
What kind of a top-level politican can't even see
through Al Gore and James Hansen? Ok, so BHO
is a politican, and so he has to say things
he doesn't mean - so he gets a free pass for a while.
But when the election is over, why is he still mouthing
AGW stuff and even appointing AGW crooks
to important places? Not once, but in a very rude
message to the honest scientists - 4 times.

Festivus Pole Snubbed At State Capitol
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-il-statehouse-festiv,0,2475692.story
Capitol Festivus pole goes up, and gripes begin
By DAVID MERCER | Associated Press Writer
10:10 AM CST, December 24, 2008
Even the 18-year-old who created the pole isn't laughing much. State
workers, he gripes, set it up too far out of the way for anyone to see.
"I'm halfway thinking about complaining about the location," Michael
Tennenhouse said.
Festivus was, after all, a holiday built around the airing of grievances.
"I got a lot of problems with you people!" Frank Costanza told family
and others gathered for his odd, uncomfortable holiday. "And now you're
gonna hear about it!"
