Author: mignault_research
Date: Jun 10, 2008 04:50

Hi:

You can help research to better understand the body-emotion
relationship by
filling the survey on therapeutic massage and emotions.
This is for people who already received at least one therapeutic
massage in
their life.

It is at the following address:
http://www.alainmignault.com/expe.html

Thank you for your help!
(I have no money to conduct this research. That's volunteers are
welcomed.)

Alain Mignault, Ph.D.

Author: elb823
Date: Jun 4, 2008 04:49

I am a graduate student at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.

I am looking for Adults who are willing to participate in a thinking
and reasoning research study, and I am specifically looking for
individuals who have English as a first language. This study will take
approximately 30 minutes to complete.

I understand your time is both limited and precious. However, it is
because of volunteers, like you, who generously donate their time,
that we are able to learn more about how people make decisions. By
taking a few minutes to complete this survey you will play a crucial
role in advancing our understanding of how people think, reason, and
evaluate social science research.

Just copy and paste the link below in to your browser and follow the
instructions.

Help needed for UCLA grad student using psychological methods

Author: PuzzleLinkStudy
Date: May 21, 2008 05:09

Hello! I am a graduate student in biological anthropology at UCLA. I
am currently working on a mixed-methods project with my advisor,
Daniel M.T. Fessler, to investigate human minds and experience as a
part of my graduate research. In addition to traditional fieldwork in
small-scale societies, some anthropologists are increasingly using
psychological methods to investigate human behavior, motivation, and
cognitive processes.

The phase of our project that is currently underway is collection of
data in the United States via an internet questionnaire about puzzle-
solving and emotion. We would greatly appreciate it if you would be
willing to participate in our study. You must be at least 18 years of
age to be eligible to participate. Participation takes only a few
minutes and is wholly anonymous.

To participate in this survey, simply click on the link below. Note:
if for some reason the link below does not work, copy and paste the
URL into your web browser.

  Tutor

Author: flora
Date: Jan 31, 2008 11:45

Hello,

I am looking for a temporary psychology tutor because I am not having
any success in my first psychology class. Specifically, I need for
someone to review my tests after I have taken them. I am doing the
class online; however, WEBCT does not let me know which questions I
have missed, so I have no idea what I need to study. I've asked the
professor, but I was told that which questions I missed cannot be
released for security reasons.

Any help will be appreciated. My main goal is to find out which areas
of psychology that I need to review after I have taken the test. Of
course, I will be more than happy to pay for any services provided.

Please e-mail me. My e-mail is locked down due to spam. Just request
that I add you to my buddy list.

Thanks,

Mae

  Announcement of Symposium

Author: Profbertman2
Date: Nov 5, 2007 03:37

"The Healing Power of Ancient Literature" is the title of a
symposium to be held in Reno, Nevada, on June 19 and 20, 2008, under
the auspices of The Parker Institute. The symposium's premise is that
literature, especially ancient literature, possesses a profound power
to heal our souls, a power that is especially needed today when the
rapidity of change and the force of world events combine to make peace
of mind an ever more distant and seemingly unreachable goal.
Featuring nationally-renowned scholars, the symposium will explore the
wisdom literature of Egypt, the Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh, the
poetry of Homer, the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, and the Biblical
book of Ecclesiastes as sources of enlightenment and inspiration. For
further information, contact Dr. Lois Parker (loisp@unr...

VRL-1 responds only to "painfully hot"

VR-1 responds to hot, chili, and acids.

Once again, there is a BIG difference between VR-1 and VRL-1. Read
the quotes from http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/P/Pain.html
:

#randsent

"TRPV1 (also known as VR1) = Hot (>43 Celsius). Also activated by
capsaicin, the active ingredient of hot chili peppers, by camphor, and
by acids (protons)."

"TRPV2 (also called VRL-1) = Painfully hot (>52 Celsius)"

http://www.islandnet.com/~yesmag/brain/brainbump.php?id=95

"VR1 for hot, and VRL1 for super hot."

In the skin, VRL-1 serves as a thermal nociceptor. However in the
viscera, lungs and other internal organs, VRL-1 has a totally
different purpose.
