A healthy diet includes eating a variety of foods from the basic food
groups: protein, such as meat, eggs, and legumes; dairy; fruits and
vegetables; grains, such as breads and pasta; and fats and sweets. As
simple as this sounds, it's not always easy to get the nutrition you
need. You may eat more of your favorite foods from only one food
group, and as a result, avoid others. Or perhaps you opt for
convenience over quality when you are hungry.
I invite everyone, who chooses and wants to be healthy, to my club.
Healthclub101.blogspot.com ... Their you will find everything to
becoming a healthier person.
Everyone has the right to feel and be healthy. Health isn't only about
what you eat, but about how you feel and how you live day by day.

I thought this was an interesting factoid, not a surprise to me but
interesting:
"In his speech, the President asked Congress for $300 million for poor kids
in the inner city.
There are 15 million children in America living in poverty, how much is that
per child?
Correct! $20.
The President also demanded that Congress extend his tax cuts. The cost:
$4.3 trillion over ten years.
The big recipients are millionaires. And the number of millionaires happens,
not coincidentally, to equal
the number of poor kids, roughly 15 million of them. What is the cost of the
tax cut per millionaire?
That's right, Richie, $287,000 apiece "

Still typing, though not as much. Yes, I know I'm supposed to say
"transcribing," but I just can't. I feel like the clerical equivalent
of a graveyard gas station attendant. I type. That's what I do.
Still stitching and preparing for the online needlework show in April.
I'm hoping that in a couple of years, Effervescent Designs starts paying
for itself at the very least.
One of my favorite fiber manufacturers went out of business, so I have
to revise all the patterns that used them.
Started writing again in August (after a ten-year hiatus caused by
endless near-miss rejections--"Please overnight me the manuscript...ah,
yeah, I'm sorry; it didn't quite pass the editorial board" x3 AND a
serious case of trying to untangle a plot I'd tangled badly).

Nothing really interesting in my update--I'm home after my second
total knee replacement and going kind of bonkers already! This leg was
stronger than the first, however, so I'm able to do things sooner and
better than I was with my left leg last September.
Still office manager at my doc's office (multi doc practice) and still
doing transcription on the side--mostly podiatry procedures and
ophthalmic plastic surgery.
Just recently found out that I'm to be a grandmother mid August! I've
seen an ultrasound, and it's the cutest little seahorse you ever did
see!

Well, I'm still working but don't want to. Can't someone on here figure out
how we can make money without working? Good lord there are enough of us here
we should be able to figure it out. I'm 59, tired of working (have been
since 17) and I know I will retire when I drop dead at this GD keyboard! :)
Son has been married over a year! They love their home they bought the
November after they were married so, they've been there over a year now.
They just bought a new car for his wife. They are really doing well,
obviously. She's a nurse practitioner and he's on his FIFTH year as a
firefighter! I can't believe it. Has it been that long since we've been to
VEGAS???? I was really upset to see the Monte Carlo on fire, my favorite
casino down there. Hope to get "fire sale" invites soon! :)
DH is still working civil service and I'm fuming. King George needs all
civil service employees to take two days off without pay to help cover the
cost of his war and this STUPID money he's sending people that we all have
to pay back in more debt in our budget! Prior to the award and idea of this
"refund", DH came home and said, "they're talking about forcing us to take
off two days without pay because the war costs are so high". SHIT!

If anyone is still using tape and using Dictaphone model 3710 or 3720
transcribers, I have a great offer for you.
I just bought a whole herd of the model 3710s from a law firm. They are in
great shape. If someone needs just a backup, not needing the foot pedal,
earphones, etc., I will let them go for $50, including shipping. The
complete unit with power supply, foot pedal, and earphones would be $100.

I work with large databases of medical records.
Today I'm running and refining queries on asthma medications.
If a patient is not ON the medication, it's been recommended, discussed,
etc the program excludes it from my query.
I have one site where the MT has typed Advair Discuss for every damn
record. Discuss excludes the records. Days like this I wanna pull my
hair out.
Vent over, thank you for listening :)

Compared to everybody else, my life recently seems pretty much uneventful.
Well, if you don't count that I finally got a new car!!! (Okay, it's not
new; it's a 2002 Saturn L200, but it's new to ME!) I've been without
transportation of my own for over a year now, so this is a pretty big deal
for me.
My daughter, SIL, and 3-m/o grandson came to spend Christmas with us--what
an awesome little rugrat he is! He has to be the happiest baby I've ever
seen, wakes up grinning and just warms my heart. Even when my daughter says
he's "totally pissed off," his cry sounds polite to me. I told her she has
no idea what a real shrieker sounds like! I hate, hate, hate that they live
so far away. :-(
My other daughter and grandson are considering coming to live with us for a
while. They're in California, and I haven't seen them for a long time, and
I really want to help her get her life on track and give her some support I
feel she's been missing, so in that regard, it's a great thing. I can't
wait to get my mitts on my grandson -- he's 6, and I haven't seen him in
forever! OTOH, I've had an empty nest just long enough to get used to it
and learn to like it, so it will be a heck of an adjustment. One thing you
have to admit about life, though, it never stays the same for very long!

qPCR NEWS - January 2008 - Special Topic: High Resolution Melt
Dear researcher,
dear Gene Quantification page reader,
Our newsletter informs about the latest news in quantitative real-time
PCR (qPCR and qRT-PCR), which are compiled and summarised on the Gene
Quantification homepage. The focus of this newsletter issue is:
- HRM - High Resolution Melt
