Obama favors a "card-check" provision being added to the nation's labor
laws. This means that there would be no secret ballots in union
elections. How do you feel about that? A few years ago, our hospital
barely voted in a union for the nurses, clerical workers, housekeeping
and trasnporation. Intimidation of workers by the union was rampant.
Can you imagine what it would be like if they know you refused to sign a
card?

I am looking for an old posting on SMT from 2006. Can anyone tell me how to
look for it?
Thanks,
Neal

Senator McCain tried to get the media focused on him rather than the
Democratic convention with the buildup to his VP pick on Friday. It
seems now that Hurricane Gustav might do the same for the Republican
convention next week.
Seriously, if any of you are near the path of what the meteorologists
are predicting to be a CAT 3 or even a 4, be sure to stay safe. The
news channels are saying New Orleans might be hit again, and there is
another storm named Hanna growing behind Gustav.

Now that we know all the Democrat and Republican people running for
President and Vice President, what do you think of the choices those
two parties give us?

Jay that was absolutely great. Great song, great voice, and great
presentation.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Very good. Something to think about
when hurdles come into your life.

Thank you all for the positive feedback. Neal, happy to post the
lyrics:
Just when I think I’ve got everything under control
I’ve got my plans for the future and I’m on a roll
That’s when the Father so lovingly draws me aside
And shows me that He has a different objective in mind
Life can be so unexpected, but God is never surprised
Sometimes the things that I wouldn’t have asked for are blessings in
disguise
Looking back over my lifetime, I am truly amazed
God moves in mysterious ways
Yes, there are times when I don’t know what I’m gonna do
But I have a Friend Who has promised that He’ll see me through
He holds tomorrow and knows what tomorrow will bring
He’s my assurance, the anchor to which I will cling

Doctor is not that articulate on a good day. I'm sure he's good at
birthin' babies, but...
Maternal hypotensive episode, fetal bradycardia. Emergent cesarean
section. The baby was blue and limp upon delivery, but "after
epinephrine, I think, and IV fluids, the baby *peaked/piqued/peeked*
up."
Now which would you choose? I want to write *picked up* but he is
clearly not saying that.

This is probably something really simple that I'm just not grasping. A
recent article said the US Post Office was offering to buy out some
employees, to save money. I've seen this same concept offered at
several companies. If a company is hurting financially, why would they
offer buy-outs instead of just laying off people?
