"Warrantless Wiretapping, Ain't That A HOOT?..........
"Surveillance Bill Offers Protection To Telecom Firms
Deal Would Extend U.S. Wiretap Power, Shield Providers Facing Privacy
Lawsuits
Washington Post
Friday, June 20, 2008
House and Senate leaders agreed yesterday on surveillance legislation
that could shield telecommunications companies from privacy lawsuits,
handing President Bush a major legislative victory.
The agreement extends the government's ability to eavesdrop on
espionage and terrorism suspects while effectively providing a legal
escape hatch for AT&T, Verizon Communications and other telecom firms.
They face more than 40 lawsuits that allege they violated customers'
privacy rights by helping the government conduct a warrantless spying
program after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks."

Bush tanked the U.S. economy
By BONNIE ERBE
GUEST COLUMNIST
Recession, like menopause, is a retrospective diagnosis. You
don't know you're in one until you've been in it for at least
two quarters (referring to a recession) or a year (for
menopause). The question for me is not: Are we hitting a
recession in 2008? It is: What has made the economy so buoyant
that we didn't submerge into a recession several years ago?

Economy.......We Rightards Reluctantly Admit it.....Because we
never believe we could be Wrong........Heeheee.......How Could
We? After all We did Something for the Freedom of
Iraqis...........Donchaknow Leftist Pukes?

The War is to blame for the Economy, the republicans are to
blame for the War.
Yes, the war is directly linked to the bad economy &
recession. If the republicans deny that then they are idiots.
They are the morons who caused this mess. They should be the
ones to fix it. Problem is they won't. Why? Because they deny
what is going on. The ones who are not up for re-election or
are not running don't give a damn. The others are just waiting
to see what happens after the General Election.

"House Democrats call for nationalization of refineries
Wednesday, Jun. 18 2008
Fox News
House Democrats responded to President's Bush's call for Congress to
lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera
press conference fed back live. Among other things
Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), member of the House Appropriations
Committee and one of the most-ardent opponents of off-shore drilling
was quoted as saying: "We (the government) should own the refineries.
Then we can control how much gets out into the market"."

"Bipartisan accord reached on war funding bill
June 18, 2008
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush would win $162 billion in long-
overdue funding to carry out military operations in Iraq and
Afghanistan into next year under a bipartisan agreement sealed on
Capitol Hill on Wednesday.
The agreement reached between House Democrats and Republicans and the
White House — if passed into law as expected — would finally put to
rest Bush's long-standing battles with congressional Democrats over
war funding."
