I meant distributed, literally. Social Security tax is 13%% of your
salary (half from you, half from your employer). Collected, that
money is then paid directly to people who are already retired. It
isn't saved. Shortly after you've paid it, it's gone.

Already acknowledged. The question is how much, and for what. To
echo Arthur Godfrey, "I'm proud to pay taxes in the United States; the
only thing is, I could be just as proud for half the money."
