Which is precisely the problem.

Without private ownership of property, and of oneself, then there is
only tyranny. Government ownership of everything is communism, which
was the boogeyman that we invested so much blood and treasure fighting
against for all of the cold war. We got communist Russia to back down -
now are you planning on turning the US communist from the inside?

Those fail because the rulers believe that to "control the streets" is a
good thing. The streets don't need to be "controlled" in a free society.
