Is there no limit to the taxes justified by this rationale? No
question as to the usefulness, quality, or need of the 'services' so

Yes there are limits to what can be justified, but that wasn't the
issue. The claim was made that this limit was zero. I think you will
agree that zero is not the right answer for the limit.
