I'm trying to decide whether it would take less time to make a new
RFID reader using an antenna from an existing unit as well as using
the code (to produce the fsk signal) as well as the circuit used to
match the antenna's resonant frequency. The existing unit is made of
an antenna made out of coils of lacqured copper wire. There is an
existing unit including the firmware codes for the microcontrollers on
the unit, but it doesn't talk properly anymore to the computer. It's
also built for a slightly different purpose too. It's built to
periodically check for the presence of a tag and then report to the
host computer. I'm trying to get it to communicate either to another
microcontroller, or to the host pc and have it coordinate between
talking to two separate microcontroller systems. I'm also thinking of
building a new one with a separate microcontroller system or RFID
reader, adapt the code used for the existing system and have it to
talk to the host computer. I'm wondering in your opinion, based on the
information that I have found so far, whether fixing the current
system in terms of hardware and firmware-wise despite its reliability
issues or building a semi-new one adapting some of the circuits and
code of the existing reader would be the easier and more reliable
solution. Sorry if I still sound vague, but your views would be much ...

The group can't post image, can it?
It's not convenient for explanation.

Along the lines of the question regarding LTspice logic levels...
PSpice has a number of nice digital stimulus "parts", but they kick
out _very_fast_ edges at 0-5V logic levels when connected to analog
parts.
So, in this past week, I have created some stimulus-level-to-analog
parts with adjustable levels and rise and fall.
Likewise analog back to 5V logic.
That way I can patch in 74HC stuff just for behavioral analysis...
speeds things up before I go full device-level in the chip design.
Any PSpice users that are interested, I'll send you copies for your
symbol libraries... PSpice Schematics only... Capture sucks the big
lemon ;-)

Having had my emails ignored and being unable to find intelligent life
in the Winbond/Nuvoton phone system - is it possible to do automatic
power up message looping with the new ISD17xxx series of chipcorders
ie apply power and the chip plays the single recorded message (which
may not occupy the entire memory space) seamlessly forever (or until
the power is removed).
cheers, m

One add after the other for digital photo frames, pdf book readers,
one even more expensive then the other (500 Euro???), so I thought "
have a lot of jpg pictures, why not put a eeePC in the living room as digital photo frame,
and have the main PC send the slide show?"
So of course everything crahed or did not work (this confirms John Larkin's
ideas that all soft is broken ;-) ), especially when I wanted to mix BW and color jpegs..
So wrote something myself, Linux users (MS users need to upgrade to Linux):

First time for me to do mixed mode sims on LTSpice. How do you change
the voltage level of behavioral logic such as "AND" from the default 1V
to some other voltage?
Maybe even other parameter such as rise/fall times, prop delays?
