  FYI - Crypto and the right to privacy

Author: David Eather
Date: May 3, 2008 17:20

Just found something interesting....

As many of you know, parts of the US government are not keen on citizens
hanging on to their privacy by using crypto. When it comes to legality
of invading this privacy the arguments "pro" generally centre on there
being no right to privacy in the US constitution.

Therefore something I found yesterday may become interesting ....

"In the 1973 case, Roe v. Wade, the United States Supreme Court
struck down state laws banning abortion, ruling that such laws violated
an implied right to privacy in the United States Constitution"

  All About The Quran

Author: hamada
Date: May 3, 2008 15:22

The Quran is a Divine Miracle of Literature [Prophesy - Science -
Warnings - Wisdom - Truths] ..and it has been Preserved 100%% In the
Original Language - for over 1,400 years!

Humanity has received Divine Guidance only through two channels:

the Word of Almighty God ("Allah" [in Arabic]) [scriptures, Bible,
Psalms, etc.]
the Prophets sent by the Allah to communicate His Will to mankind

These two things have always been going together, hand in hand.

More important though, there were at that time, tens of thousands of
his companions ("sahabi" in Arabic) who memorized the complete Quran
from the instruction of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Even
the prophet himself, peace be upon him, used to recite it while angel
Gabriel once a year and in the last year of his life he recited it two
times just before the month in which he died.

  Erratum in NIST SP800-67?

Author: Richard Outerbridge
Date: May 3, 2008 08:44

To Whom It May Concern:

I believe I have found an error in NIST ITL SP800-67 (Recommendation for
the Triple Data Encryption Algorithm (TDEA) Block Cipher), Version 1,
which is available at:

<http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/nistpubs/800-67/SP800-67.pdf>

On page 14 of SP800-67, in Section 3.4.2 Weak Keys, is a list of the four
"Weak Keys" of the DEA. The published list is as follows:

* 0000000 0000000

* 0000000 FFFFFFF

* FFFFFFF 0000000

* FFFFFFF FFFFFFF

This list is in ERROR. It should probably read:

* 00000000 00000000

* 1F1F1F1F 0E0E0E0E <=!

* E0E0E0E0 F1F1F1F1 <=!

* FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF

Since,

Fact: { 0x01010101, 0xfefefefe } and { 0xfefefefe, 0x01010101 } are NOT
weak DEA keys.
