White winged flies on horse manure

Date: Aug 16, 2008 16:23

I've researched flies on manure and find many types. The one
I see on this dung is not found. I thought it was a white fly
but that is all white. These flies have black heads and white
wings. They are quite small, sort of like no-seeums.

Any ideas?

Hello!

And where on earth did you do that? Norway? Namibia? Nepal?
Sorry, but most people seem to think, that all animals do occur
everywhere in the world...

No white wings, only reflected/refracted light. If you found that
dung somewhere in the nearctic or palearctic, those little flies
could be Sphaeroceridae (the bigger one seems to be a Musca sp.).
