Hi, I'm studying conservation biology and animal behaviour, I have
made some enquires about this. As far as I'm aware, felines are immune
to spider venom so the likelihood of this cat dying from a spider bite
is very remote. Was there no autopsy carried out into cause of death?
Thiamine is the active ingredient in rat poison and is lethal to most
mammalian species ( including humans in large doses), I would suggest
that this is a more probable cause for the death of this cat.
Hope this is of use to you
Kind regards
Steve
