	<description><![CDATA[<br><br><br>Centro de Estudios del Agua, Monterrey Tech<br>Research Professor in Water Science (Faculty Position)<br>Monterrey, Mexico<br><br><br><br>The Centro de Estudios del Agua (Water Studies Center) at Tecnológico<br>de Monterrey (or: Monterrey Tech) offers a challenging opportunity for<br>research, lecturing and postgraduate supervision in the strategic area<br>of Water Sciences at Assistant/Associate Professor level.<br><br>Monterrey is third largest city in Mexico and the capital city of the<br>northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León near Texas. The city is a<br>modern industrial and business center. The metropolitan area of<br>Monterrey has a population of 3.8 million. Monterrey Tech (http://<br><a href="http://www.itesm.edu" rel="nofollow" class="url" target="_blank">www.itesm.edu</a>/) is one of the largest (over 90,000 students, 33<br>campuses) and leading private technological universities in Mexico and<br>Latin America. It has one of the top graduate business schools in the<br>region and is leader in patent applications among Mexican<br>universities.<br><br>The Centro de Estudios del Agua (<a href="http://www.mty.itesm.mx/dia/centros" rel="nofollow" class="url" target="_blank">http://www.mty.itesm.mx/dia/centros</a>/<br>cea/) is carrying out applied research and development projects for<br>government, industry, and other institutions/associations in Mexico<br>and other countries; as well as consultancies and short courses. The<br>new mission of the center is to become one of the top references in<br>Water Conservation and Sustainable Use in Latin America.<br><br>Due to the imminent new mission, the Centro de Estudios del Agua is<br>expanding and offers various Assistant/Associate Professor vacancies<br>in Water Sciences, to be filled tentatively between January and August<br>2009, as well as new laboratories. The candidates are expected to<br>entail lecturing (6 hours per week approximately), research (project<br>sale, supervision and development), paper publication and thesis<br>supervision duties at graduate level (Msc and PhD). The research areas<br>of interest are:<br><br>Environmental Flow Assessment<br>Integrated Water Resources Management / Basin Water Management<br>Urban Hydraulics<br>Administration of Public Water Agencies<br>Isotope Hydrology / Groundwater Modeling / Hydrogeology<br>Water Quality / Sanitation<br>Water Technologies / Innovation for the Industry<br>Hydroinformatics / Water GIS<br>Water Education and Culture<br>Water and Health<br>Agricultural Water Use<br>Our candidates will be: 1) motivated, active, communicative<br>researchers who are willing to play a leading role in their research<br>area, 2) equipped with a PhD degree plus a proven track record of work/<br>teaching experience and research in their respective research area<br>(minimum 5 recent papers in indexed journals for the Assistant<br>Professor level), 3) experienced in attracting research grants to<br>sustain ongoing research, 4) dominating very well (written and spoken)<br>Spanish and English language, 5) are (interdisciplinary) team players,<br>6) have work experience in Latin America.<br><br>The position is a full-time faculty position with 5 weeks vacations<br>per year. The monthly net pay is approximately 30,000-35,000 Mexican<br>Pesos (US$ 3,000-3,500) for an Assistant Professor, depending on<br>qualification and experience.
