GPINT + PCMCIA Parallel port adapter problem

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of using a GPINT with a PCMCIA parallel port
adapter for autoguiding? I'm trying this set-up and all I'm getting is
constant slewing in RA and Dec as soon as the laptop boots up.

Any observation gratefully accepted.

Thanks.

Do you normally have a printer attached to it?
The operating system might be polling the port.
Make sure the OS does mot expect to use it for anything,
and maybe you have to declare the port to be a
true spp(standard parallel port) in the bios.

Before worrying about the port, make sure the CABLE is good. That is
usually the problem in these cases. Check the parallel port settings
against what's in the GPINT instructions, too.
