Ian does not know for sure that in the crucifixion "Simon Magus" had
the
nails driven through his wrists. Not even Dr. Thiering knows the
answer on this
specific point; instead, she IMHO is making inference from certain
Thiering
pesher indications/factors...
So, Dr. Thiering claims/proposes/states that Simon Magus was 1 of the
"thieves"
who was crucifed with Jesus but that Simon was the CENTRAL Figure of
the
Crucifixion in the center position, NOT JESUS CHRIST.
She also says in ANOTHER part of the Pesher of Christ website that
Simon
had GREAT STRENGTH and was able to squeeze with his wrists despite
his injury.
Finally, the weight of the body at Crucifixion was given additional
support by
some sort of rest. This detail is explained in her 1998 book on Jesus
-
The Book That Jesus Wrote - John's Gospel (Transworld Doubleday 1998,
ISBN 0-552-14665-X)

Let it be understood - I am explaining Thiering; I myself am NOT
MAKING CLAIMS...
