North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party Blog: Conrad, Dorgan and Pomeroy ...

I forget which of those two senators from North Dakota wrote a book
about the Federal Deficit but here
is some mathematics that is highly relative to the farm state of North
Dakota and the need for both
Conrad and Dorgan to rally behind (sic) North Dakota farmers.
The Keystone Oil Pipeline which pipes tar sand sludge under high
pressure spends 30,000 barrels of
oil energy per every 400,000 barrels refined. An alternative method of
refining the oil in Canada and then
Railroad hauling the product to destinations in the USA costs merely
1,000 barrels of oil per every
400,000. And the Railroad method does not ruin one single farmers
field.

According the the Capital Press, Oregon's agricultural sales in 2007
totalled $4.89 billion. That's up substantially from 2006. With the
commodity price runup in early 2008, the year might be even better.
Maybe. Some of the price runup has been from speculators pumping money
into the futures market because stocks have been heading down. If they
think stocks are risky, they have never traded commodities.
Even so, demand is up, and supplies are tight. Things are looking
pretty good for farmers in 2008.

Wheat Bran is the portion of the grain immediately under the husk of
the wheat kernel; it covers the entire kernel, often used for animal
feed. It also makes a nutritious addition to baked goods, because it
is a good source of dietary fiber ,dietary minerals and is high in B
vitamins, protein and iron, Wheat Bran is often used to enrich breads
(notably muffins) and breakfast cereals, especially for the benefit of
those wishing to increase their intake of dietary fiber. Bran may also
be used for pickling, as in the tsukemono of Japan Wheat bran is
extensively used as feed for farm animals. Bran is used as food for
humans (in cereals or mixed with flour in bread) to add roughage
(i.e., cellulosehtt) to the diet. It is also used in dyeing and calico
printing,Our prices are very lowest for south...

The biofuel zealots are repeating Mao's greatest mistake!
An essential economic point that political leaders and the media have
missed about the world food crisis is that rising oil prices have not
shrunk the human food supply, but biofuel production has! Higher oil
prices naturally raise the cost of everything that takes energy to
produce, but in addition to that United States and European Union
policies have actually shrunk the human food supply by artificially
mandating a shift of agricultural resources to biofuel production.
President Bush's 2007 "Energy Independence and Security Act" turns our
food into fuel, and is reminiscent of Chairman Mao Tse Tung's 1958
Five Year Plan, known as "The Great Leap Forward," in which China's
agricultural based economy was forcefully shifted to greater
industrial output.
The higher food prices of 2008 cannot easily lead to increased food
production, as would normally be the case, because of Bush's
government mandated shift of land, water, fertilizer, farm equipment,
and...
