not the standard one though...
my Barred Rock roo has some problems. we think one of the
goats stepped on him, as he's having some problems with one
leg, can't put weight on it.
then we made things worse by taking him out of the chicken
barn & putting him in a stall in the new (unfinished) barn...
not thinking that it's very chilly & drafty in there. i was
trying to keep him from being harrassed by the other roo & the
hens, but now he seems to have caught a cold on top of his leg
issue.
this morning i moved him to a crate in the basement, next to
the furnace. it's about 60F down there & there's a light bulb
in his crate for a bit more warmth. his comb is back to bright
red (he was showing signs of frostbite) & he's eating &
drinking. he's not wheezing as badly either. he's also making
normal chicken chat (but not crowing). his eyes are bright &
he's quite alert.
his leg doesn't show any sign of swelling, but he won't put
any weight on it at all, so he's currently sitting on a thick
layer of shredded paper.
any advice? i do have a packet of vitamins & electrolytes,
but it's 1/2 package to 50 gallons... i don't think he's that
thirsty... if it's worth a shot giving him some, can anyone
help with the amount for a quart water bottle?
