As we all know the Nazi style extermination policy against ruddy ducks
throughout Europe was instigated by The RSPB and has cost the UK tax
payer 6 million pounds http://tinyurl.com/3nxzby the slaughter
continues.

The plan to wipe out the ruddy duck (Oxyura jamaicensis) from Britain
is going to plan, according to the Central Science Laboratory which
has shot 1,190 of the species since last September. The population at
the end of March, when the birds dispersed from their major wintering
grounds to breed, had been reduced to between 400 and 500. The
Department for Environment (Defra) hopes to kill them all by August
2010 to complete its five-year extermination programme.

Raven nest 'disappears' from park
A rare raven's nest has disappeared from a National Trust property, a
police spokesman said.
The nest, first discovered four years ago, was situated in Belton
Park, near Grantham, Lincolnshire.
The nest was believed to be the first raven's nest in the county for
more than 300 years.
Pc Nigel Lound said: "The raven is a scarce bird in Lincolnshire and
one that we were hoping would once again, become established in the
county."
Tower residents
He said the nest was "a substantial structure" that was taken
illegally in the past six weeks and an investigation is under way to
determine what happened.
Matthew Capper of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)
said ravens are very scarce in the East Midlands, including
Lincolnshire, but are slowly starting to move into Derbyshire,
especially the Peak District.

Hello,
We have recently incubated some goose eggs, 2 of which hatched last weekend.
The young goslings have been eating (chick crumb), drinking and growing well
well. We are keeping them indoors under warm light.
In the past 24 hours one of them has stopped "cheeping", and is now making
unpleasant gurgling sounds instead.
It is apparently having no problem breathing, and continues to eat/drink and
remains very active.
They have not had significant access to grass yet.
This is our first experience with geese. What could be wrong? Do we just
let nature take it's course? Any remedies anybody can suggest?

Does anyone actually do this any more? Is it something a small
producer could learn to do on their own or does it require a
veterinarian? Storey has a brief explanation of it in his book but
does not mention anesthetic being used. Is this cruel to cut open a
bird without pain control?
