  Raspberries Overwinter in Greenhouse

Author: Pavel314
Date: Sep 7, 2008 12:33

I found a wild red raspberry patch while kayaking last month. I brought home
some cuttings and now have about thirty 4-inch stems putting out leaves in
my wife's rooter/cloner gizmo. Once they put out healthy roots, we'll
transplant them to potting soil to develop further.

We're in central Maryland, north of Baltimore, so there isn't much time
before the cold and frost hit. I was thinking about just putting them into
the greenhouse over the winter, which should allow them to keep growing and
developing until spring, when I'll plant them outside in a permanent bed.

Would there be any problem with keeping them "awake" all winter instead of
letting them go dormant?

  papaya skin disease?

Author: peter
Date: Aug 17, 2008 06:43

How come papayas that is already ripen at the grocery stores have nice
smooth skins, but if I buy a green one and let it ripen at home, the skin
become wrinkly and start to grow fungus?

What is the trick to ripening a papaya without skin disease?

  Asian pear question

Author: JS
Date: Jul 14, 2008 11:20

I have few asian pear trees on my backyard (Hosui and 20th century).
According the information I found on the internet, the harvest time for the fruits is mid-August,
Does this mean they become totally ripened at that time? or it is time to pick them up, and bring inside
the house - to prevent insect damage ?

I have noticed last year that insects destroyed several fruits. Does this mean I picked them too late
in the season?

Thanks in advance,

JIMMY

  peach problem

Author: Mark A.Meggs
Date: Jul 11, 2008 16:18

2 problems actualy, but one is that there are so many the tree is
about to break - I know what to do about that one.

The other problem is the the skin of the peaches is turning black. It
starts as a few spots, but spreads until most of the skin is black. If
it hits when the peaches are very small, they simply stop growing and
dry up.

If it hits when they are larger and starting to get color (like now),
the skin stops growing and acts kind of like a crust - the inside
keeps growing - expanding - and cracks the skin.

It may be too late to do anything this year, but does anyone have
aideas about what it is and what to do to prevent it next year?

Thanks!

- Mark
