The New York Times had a article on bats dying en masse in upstate New
York. The issue
was chronicled on Charlie Rose TV show tonight. And it was mentioned
about bees dying off en masse
also. Which I found surprizing that it came from the mouth of Charlie
Rose and not the scientist
from Cornell. Why surprizing? Because it should have come from the
Cornell scientist rather
than Charlie Rose.

But a very important fact was omitted.

The fact that bees in France are not dying off en masse because a
nicotine based pesticide was
banned in France. This same pesticide is prevalently used in the USA
where bees and bats are
dying off.

In their catalog, Betterbee has a "hive increase Kit." It looks like
a regular hive except it has four hive bodies instead of two. Can
anyone tell me how this works? I have one very strong colony I would
like to make into two this spring.
