Thanks for the replies. I currently have a ten year old, 27" Sony CRT
which has a good picture. I'm looking at a 37" Toshiba LCD, model
37HL66. I also have the plain jane, Directv receiver and I don't really
want to upgrade to a HD receiver/package at this time..maybe next year
when Directv offers more HD channels.
I've seen a couple of friends' tv's on Dish Network, and std-def
pictures were not too good. Since we watch mostly std-def channels, I
definitely didn't want to downgrade our "viewing pleasure" with a new
$1300 TV. I think I'll see if the seller can display some std-def
signal instead of the HD signal that most retailers display all the
time.

I have a DirecTV DVR R15-100.
To get to the nominal "Guide", one normally presses "Guide" twice, which
just seems silly, but ...
Is it possible to change that, so a single "Guide" will take me to my
selected Guide?
I just received a Logitech Harmony 880 remote.
I have gone through the web page setup, and I'm left with a couple of first
day problems. One is the Guide-Guide problem.
Can the Harmony be programmed to send more than one command, like
"Guide-Guide"?
I have everything controlled through a Yamaha A/V receiver, including TV
power, so the TV is really off and not in standby. When I press the
"Watch TV" activity button, the TV does not come on.
1-Maybe it is getting a command to turn on before the Yamaha has actually
provided power.
2-It turns on okay when I use the Yamaha power button, so maybe it is
turning on when AC is supplied, but the Harmony is sending it a code to
turn on which is being accepted as a command to turn off.

I'm guessing they're buying all of their helicopter video from the same
source. That's why they all have the same voice. And if he's also flying
the helicopter he's not going to have time to provide in-depth analysis of
what's happening on the ground.

We had an ice / snowstorm, and I stopped receiving TV on both my
receivers. I have a dish with 3 factory lnb's one has a single port,
and the other 2 are dual ports. When I do a check switch I get a
db1-dual port, and a db2-dual port, but the third ones shows up as not
connected. I have even taken my receiver right out to the dish, and
plugged each lnb directly into the receiver (by passing the switch) and
ran a check switch, I get the same results db1-dual port, db2-dual
port, and nothing. I don't have signal, but in all this poking around
I had to loosen my dish.
It is a super dish, and looking at the dish from the front left to
right single lnb (dead), lnb with dual ports, lnb with dual ports.
What satellites does the dead lnb point to? In this configuration what
satellites should I set my receiver to so I can re aim the dish, what
about which transponder? I want to make sure everything else is still
working before I buy a replacement lnb.
Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,
I have DirecTV HD receiver and a nice HD monitor that I use for all my
sporting, movie, and entertainment needs. Needless to say, i'm
addicted to my HD broadcasts.
However, last week DirecTV contacted me and offered me a free DVR for
being a "great" customer.
I took them up on the offer, thinking the DVR operated free from the
receiver and was a stand-alone unit I could use with my HD receiver
(and not be able to record any HD content).
Is there any way I can use this DVR with my HD setup and still enjoy
watching stuff in HD?
Perhaps I could split the two receivers and use them both? One for
recorded material etc... and the other HD as a primary unit?
Any info or advice would be MUCH appreciated.

Could just be that the person disconnected the receiver before he
discontinued his service. In that case, the receiver doesn't see the
desubscribe signal that is sent to it.
The satellite service should periodically send out the desubscribe
signal again, so you should expect that the old card will just stop
working one day.

I'd guess that this was either hacked or the previous owner never
removed the receiver from his account. Have you called DTV to put it
on your account?
