Divx format players

For a DVD player to say that it supports Divx is really quite meaningless
unless we know what wrapper format the Divx content must be in. A
traditional DVD uses a multiplexed MPEG stream containing MPEG2 video and
MP2 or AC3 audio on a UDF filesystem. Divx is usually wrapped in an AVI
wrapper and doesn't care what kind of filesystem it is hosted on. BTW: I
haven't seen any working implementations of MP4 or Divx in streaming
wrapper formats yet; only in AVI format.

NOWHERE in any available online documentation have I found a statement
regarding what wrapper and filesystem format Divx DVDs should be prepared
in to play on a Divx compatible DVD player.

Anybody have any information on actually preparing a divx compliant DVD
to play on a Divx certified DVD player? and I'm not asking about what
windoze authoring program I should use. I need a reference for
specifications outlining the requirements: allowable bitrates and screen
formats, required wrapper format, filesystem information, etc. that will
guarantee that my MPEG4 or Divx content will play on a Divx certified
unit.
