Hi -

I am hoping someone could provide me with an itinerary more or less of
backpacking latin america in a period of roughly 9 months. The problem
I have is that I dont know the relation of cities to one another and
access, etc., to make the route the most efficient/sensible.

The idea is probably to go from Ecuador throughout South America and
then go back up through C.A. Language, etc. is no problem and I intend
to stay with families as opposed to hostels etc. Therefore hotels,
etc. are no problem, I am just looking for a sensible way to make the
trip.

It's difficult to suggest an itinerary without knowing your interests
and what type of experience you're looking for. You'd probably be
better off getting yourself a guidebook such as the Lonely Planet,
which by the way will give you distances and times between various
cities and side trips, as well as information on the busses to get you
there.
