  Costa Rica 1-day tour?

Author: Ned & Jane
Date: Dec 31, 2006 22:20

Hello:

Has anyone experienced the 1-day Costa Rica Highlights tour from San Jose?
It appears that several companies offer the same tour, and much of the
verbiage from their websites was repetetive.

Do you have a particular tour company recommendation?

Thanks, Ned

We've just came back from Costa-Rica yesterday after a wonderful trip.
We went to southern part of the country.

When planning our visit, we have reserved cottage in El Jardin
Tortuga. We had to pre-pay for the entire trip in cash before arrival.

Just to warn travelers: I definitely DO NOT recommend staying at the
hotel.

Their premises are in a bad condition, when we got there we figured out
that toilet doesn't work, no light, no gas in the kitchen, etc.

We where forced to look for another place to stay.
Stefan - the owner of "el jardin tortuga" - did not want to refund even
a portion of money.

If you are looking for really cheap place to stay this might be an
option, however see yourself warned. There are lots of much nicer
places down there.

Have a good trip!

The black and yellow taxis can be safely hailed in the street (though I
did have a drunk driver once). I wouldn't risk 'unofficial' ones.

Nik? You do realize that you posted this in a group dedicated to
traveling in Latin American countries, right? By the way, the URL you
gave is broken because you left a character out of it.

Are you planning to drive back as well? Serious question, reason for
asking being that importing vehicles may be subject to heavy taxation.

local travel agencies to arrange a trip to Galapagos, hiking in Galapagos?

Author: Paul
Date: Dec 23, 2006 16:51

Can you recommend a local travel agency in Ecuador that could organize
a trip to Galapagos?

When is the best time to see Galapagos?

Can Galapagos be really seen by hiking rather than boating? I am not
sure I can stand a week on a boat but if this is the only way to see
all I will try...

Thank you

Paul
