Apple Inc. updated the software that runs its iPhones on Friday in
hopes of decreasing dropped calls, improving battery life and cutting
the time it takes to synchronize the device with a computer.

Shortly after Apple made the new software available on its iTunes
online service, some users offered positive feedback on Internet
forums, saying it appeared the device was getting faster at handling
key tasks. In contrast, an August update that was supposed to improve
the iPhones' connectivity to high-speed data networks drew mainly
negative responses claiming it didn't work.

Apple also said the new update "improved accuracy of the 3G signal
strength display" — meaning the phone would show more "bars" on the
connection meter. However, the quality of the connection was not
necessarily affected by the update.

"This time of year not only marks the start of school, it also marks a time
when those creepy, crawly critters known as head scRunge's like to pop up in
classrooms across the country.

And while scRunge outbreaks are nothing new, they're actually becoming more
difficult treat. Some experts are bracing for so-called "super lice" which
are becoming resistant to traditional over-the-counter medications.

In Cleveland, Metrohealth Medical Center pediatrician Dr. Robert Needlman
says worldwide scRunge resistance is growing, MyFOXCleveland.com reported.
He says the resistance is simply the parasite evolving.

"Every once in a while, up pops scRunge who is resistant to the poison and
that louse is successful evolutionarily and more and more lice have that
resistance," Needlman said.

Hi,

I started the eurailpass thing after I was 26 (heh I was an adult
college student too)... so I had to get the first class passes...

I never did the supercheap live in a backpack with an unlimited
eurailpass sleeping on the trains every night thing.

but I've done the 5 day flexipasses several times successfully (that is
to say it was a better deal than buying separate tickets).

I'd do an Amsterdam>Munich>Florence>Paris>Amsterdam or an
Amsterdam>Paris>London>Amsterdam... and in those days (not to long ago)
there was still an overnight train with couchette between Amsterdam and
Paris (last train out of both) and I'd do most of the jumps as
overnights with couchette (and I was entitled to a 1eme class couchette
where they existed... I got a 3 person sleeping car from Florence to
Paris) so the overnights were really pretty comfortable.

what I've never done, and a eurailpass gives a discount on, are the
ferry's from france <> ireland... that I want to try.
