This August I continued my search for the perfect sausage in
Germany. How can you not love a country where you can always
find a bratwurst for 2 euros, the usual price? I always try to speak
in German, my terrible German, and most people immediately switch
to as much English as they can muster. I am not sure if that is
because they are having pity on me or my accent grates on their ears.
I apologize for the lack of umlauts to follow but my newsreader
usually screws them up. I visited Fussen on my way to Schloss
Neuschwanstein. I went to a bratwurst stand in Fussen and
ordered one. The smiling attendant told me (in German) that the
sausages were not ready yet. She told me to come back in five
minutes. I came back closer to ten minutes later and her stand was
surrounded by customers. She recognized me and served me
immediately, a very nice person. The next day I visited
Oberammergau on my way to Schloss Linderhof. The bus driver
spoke no English but he told me, with a big smile, that my Bayern
Ticket was good for his bus. When he stopped at the entrance to
Schloss Linderhof, he gave a long speech about how the entrance
was to the right and then up the hill, and he also gave us the times
that the bus would return. The way back to Oberammergau is ...
