LONDON: Individual privacy is under threat in the United States and
across the European Union as governments introduce sweeping
surveillance and information-gathering measures in the name of
security and controlling borders, an international rights group has
said in a report.
Greece, Romania and Canada had the best privacy records of 47
countries surveyed by Privacy International, which is based in London.
Malaysia, Russia and China were ranked worst.
Both Britain and the United States fell into the lowest-performing
group of "endemic surveillance societies."
"The general trend is that privacy is being extinguished in country
after country," said Simon Davies, director of Privacy International.
"Even those countries where we expected ongoing strong privacy
protection, like Germany and Canada, are sinking into the mire."

Hello I am laying in some travel plans to Greece and am asking for
map/atlas advice.
I liked the Michelin motoring atlas for the UK and Ireland, at 1:300k,
because of readability and the marking of scenic routes. But they
don't make one for Greece, only a pan-Europe atlas that includes Greece.
What others things are out that that you found successful? I'm
currently leaning to Road Editions,
http://www.thesavvytraveller.com/insights/geography/europe/greece/2maps/road_editions/1home...
Anyone
else have them and could comment? they say the maps show "little known
archeological sites", which is very important to me. Do they highlight
'scenic drives'?
Any other map maker out there that I should check out before getting
the five 1:250k regional maps they have of the Greek mainland? (I
guess I'll wing it in Crete etc)
Thanks, rsvp,

If only the UK could have done something sensible like that.
