LGB, and SNA to a hotel, then to the cruise terminal, and then back...

Hello all! My littlest one will be 4 when we cruise Alaska's inside
passage on the Golden Princess this summer. He loves horses, but all
the horseback excursions I can find are for 8 and up (which is great
for the older kids, but not so great for my little cowboy. :D). We've
gone horseback riding (in Yellowstone, for example) with him riding in
front of me in the saddle. Does anyone know of a horseback tour that
will allow that? We're stopping in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, &
Victoria.
Thanks!
-mary

Trying to decide between the early or late dining seating on the
Carnival Fascination trip this summer. Any comments or suggestions
based on past experiences with this ship.

Hi all.
I am going on the Mariner in Dec. I am also going to do my first formal
night dinners. I have two questions. Does RCCL require true formal wear
or can I wear a Black suit. The reason I ask this is I have recently
lost weight, and have started wearing my hats that I got too fat for. I
also started collecting 20's thru 40's hats and clothing.
I really like these styles. I have several fedoras, both casual and
dress. I would like to wear a black suit but not a tux. Is this
sufficient, in your eyes, and the eyes of Royal Carib.?
Thanks,
Clay

[Default] Thus spake Charles his.com.remove.invalid>:
I saw this in the Boring Snooze while sitting in the Admiral's Club in
DFW, recovering from out flight home.
I've already been told that American will absolutely crack down on
size and number of carry ons, but not much they can do about weight. I
suspect I can get 60 pounds in one of my regulation size bags. And if
they run out of space on the plane and make me gate check it, I'll say
sure, even pay the surcharge, then promptly sue, since I was forced to
check it by the airline, rather than choosing to do so.
The legacy airlines say that they are only following the lead of some
of the deep discount carriers. But those guys charge a lot less for
their tickets, and even with the baggage charge are cheaper.

In early September we'll visit Shanghai on Sun Princess's Grand
Pacific cruise. We generally don't take ship excursions, preferring to
either walk or take a hop-on, hop-off bus and I spend quite a lot of
time planning and discovering tourist information (half the fun!).
That way I think one gets a closer glimpse of the city and its people
than from a coach. (Of course there are exceptions).
Frommer's excellent website provides detailed walking tours and maps.
I'd love to hear from anyone who's done a Shanghai-on-your-own - are
there any traps?
