Was on the the Carnival Valor last week. First night I managed to find the
only place to watch the game (Bronx Bar). I must have ingested at least 8
packs of marlboros by half time. Had a nice suite on the 7th floor.
Again....everytime I was on the balcony someones ciggs or cigars smoked out
my room from above or below. I asked for no smoking room. Had a nice time.
Valor was not nearly as nice as the Pride I had been (Manhattan to Bermuda)
on. Tried to replicate that trip but no success. How do ya'll feel about
pulling into a port like Roatan with a multi billion dollar boat and
watching poor kids play in the mud. Very humbling. I take a cruise about
every 5 yrs or so.........usually an island lover. Very fortunate to be on a
nice boat but for the money was a bit disappointed...

Dear Harvey,
Call the Crowne Plaza and see if they have a
courtesy van available and can help you. (Don't
forget a gratuity to the driver if they do!)
If not, there are several shuttle companies
available that would love to get 7 of you to one
destination. SuperShuttle has a very large
operation at LAX, along with PrimeTime. If you
have a lot of luggage, it may require 2 vans.
Have a great trip, ...

The assistant waiter in the dining room bringing you a tray of hot
vegetables to choose from on HAL cruises.
And also the cheese tray and the pastry tray that was brought around in
addition to the menu choices

They still do flambees, almost tableside, on Celebrity. But for how much
longer I don't know. Our Assistant Maitre d' set off the sprinklers on our
last cruise... and on a formal night no less!!

Still works for me since my wife is off from school but my son's school
is in session. He stays home with an aunt and we get a second honeymoon
to celebrate our 30th anniversary :-)

We got home from the 14 day Veendam Caribbean circle cruise just fine.
The cruise was unlike any other we've been on. In a nutshell, we had an
acceptable time, but it was nothing to brag about or to try doing again.
HAL's food was the cheapest we've ever encountered on a cruise ship,
served tepid and unseasoned and the seating times were equally terrible.
The shows were adequate, the ship well laid out and comfortable. The
ports of call, except for the "private island" were good- particularly
the ABC islands off the cost of S. America.
The best way to describe their menu selection for any meal was to
imagine the chef being accustomed to spending $15,000 for food to cruise
on for a week. Then, tell him that the cruise is to last 2 weeks and to
not spend anything more. How about fish and chips as a DINNER
selection? I enjoy appetizers and on this cruise only ordered them 3-4
times because of the incredibly poor selection. The ship had much
better fare in the premium dining room, but I'll be darned if I'll pay
for a cruise and then have to pay more to get good food.
