Some cruise lines are easier to work with than others.
Unfortunately NCL is not one of the easy ones. I have on numerous
occasions where they would not
give the price reductions saying it was for new bookings only. This was
with 6-8 months until the cruise.
They wouldn't let you cancel and rebook either. They would flag your
reservation and if you tried to rebook
at the lower price it won't go through. It reprices at the price you
originally paid.
Doesn't make sense to me but that's NCL.

I currently have my first RCI cruise booked for early April of 2009.
Mariner of the Seas out of LA to Mexico. Excited about trying a
Voyager class ship....to a point. I'm not liking what I'm hearing
about RCI's food for one thing. And, I'm beginning to wonder if I
really will get a thrill out of the perks such as ice skating rink and
promenade. WILL I? I'm sure my teenage daughter will enjoy it,
(although she voiced that it's not that important to her and she would
rather go to Hawaii on a RT cruise. THAT'S not gonna happen anytime
soon, though.
Okay, fast forward to yesterday. I notice that the Star Princess will
be doing the same cruise I did last year on the Golden. 10 days out of
San Francisco to Mexico. I really enjoyed that cruise. Loved the sea
days. Loved sailing under the Golden Gate.
So, I have chance to book the same cabin (as of today) for the same
price as last year. About $120 more p.p than the Mariner cruise which
is only 7 days and for that I'll be driving 7 hours to the port of LA
and spending one night pre-cruise. So it probably works out to be
about the same or more.

My wife and I booked a cruise for this October with Norwegian with our
travel agent. Recently, my wife checked Norwegian's website and the price
has dropped by $50pp. That's not really enough for me to pursue a refund,
but if it continues to drop I might change my mind.
Do cruise lines typically refund the difference if the price drops? Or
might we be able to negotiate a shipboard credit?

Previous cruises: Carnival Victory, Voyager of the Seas(twice), QM2,
Norwegian Spirit,
Crown Princess
This cruise is our 7th and our first without kids. We took it to
celebrate our 30th anniversary.
We chose this cruise for a couple reasons: 1. itinerary. We absolutely
love Bermuda, We had also considered the Explorer of the Seas because we
love the Voyager class ships but their itinerary was 5 days with 2 days
in Bermuda while the Dawn was 7 days with three in Bermuda. 2. Price.
Our TA had a block of rooms reserved at a price no one could match. So
cheaper price and more days won out over nicer ship.

A good friend is going on the Carnival Ecstasy in June, it will be her
first cruise.
Does Carnival give you beach/pool towels in your cabin or are they by
the pool? Also do they give you towels to take ashore?
Also I assume tips will be put on her account automatically?
thanks,
sue
