Will Americans cruising to Europe need to be fingerprinted?

Author: Jeff Gersten
Date: Feb 12, 2008 16:37

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/11/AR2008021102786.html...

The European Commission will propose tomorrow that all foreign travelers
entering and leaving Europe, including U.S. citizens, should be
fingerprinted. If approved by the European Parliament, the measure would
mean that precisely identifying information on tens of millions of
citizens will be added in coming years to databases that could be shared
by friendly governments around the world.

The United States already requires that foreigners be fingerprinted and
photographed before they enter the country. So does Japan. Now top
European security officials want to follow suit, with travelers being
fingerprinted and some also having their facial images stored in a
Europe-wide database, according to a copy of the proposal obtained by
The Washington Post.

  Uxmal for my birthday?

Author:
Date: Feb 12, 2008 10:23

Do any of you know of a private company that does trips to Uxmal?

The ship arrives in Progresso at 7am and leaves at 4pm. Carnival doesn't
offer the excursion.

Should I find a company online or wait til I get to the pier?

Thanx

Plans for 2 new cruise ship terminals rile some in this port town
By Art Marroquin, Staff Writer
Article Launched: 02/11/2008 10:56:04 PM PST

Plans to build two new cruise ship terminals at the Port of Los
Angeles have raised the ire of community groups who say they would be
subjected to an "eyesore" that would increase traffic and noise in San
Pedro.

Later this year, port officials hope to release six possible designs
for the new Outer Harbor Cruise Terminal, which could include two new
two-story terminals totaling 200,000 square feet at berths 45 through
47 and berths 49 and 50 near the southern edge of the harbor.

Port officials are calculating costs for the entire proposal.

"The Outer Harbor Cruise Terminal would enable the port to accommodate
the growing cruise travel segment in the future, specifically the
larger class of ships that will come online over the next five to 10
years," said Gordon Smith, a spokesman for the Port of Los Angeles.
