Hi
Permanent Passenger: My Life on a Cruise Ship is nearing 600 in sales
and best seller status for indie book

I am spreading word about my new book about my life working on a
cruise ship. Permanent Passenger: My Life on a Cruise Ship chronicles
my wacky job search to get my dream job as Assistant Cruise Director
and takes you behind the scenes on a cruise ship.

Go to www.permanentpassenger.com to see more about the book.

Truly a very funny insightful book that will make you laugh – cry –
and throw up just a bit.

Cheers

That space is obviously where they hide all the oldest passengers.

  Need Passport for Alaska Cruise?

Author: gfc
Date: Jul 6, 2008 00:21

I hope someone can answer my question. I am a naturalized citizen
with an expired American passport (expired on 3/2008). I booked an
Alaska cruise (makes a stop in Victoria, CA) through Expedia and
honestly, I don't remember them mentioning a passport or a birth
certificate at the time of booking. Mention of a birth certificate
would have raised a red flag as mine is in Italy and I have not seen
it in decades! Now that a couple of people mentioned my needing a
birth certificate or passport I called Holland America and this is
what I was told:

First HA supervisor: You won't be able to board unless you have a
valid US passport or birth certificate. Have your birth certificate
faxed from Italy!
(My comment: A birth certificate is acceptable from an American born
citizen because it is proof of citizenship, but how would a birth
certificate that shows that I was born in Italy help me enter the US?)

Second HA Supervisor: You probably won't be able to board. It's not
up to us. It's Homeland Security.

Yes, I have some Hawaiian dollars. Still legal tender, but probably
worth more than face value to collectors.
