"Excuse me - Are you Roger Federer?"

Author: Whisper

I just got back from the gym & as I was taking my bag out the boot a
little 10 yr old boy (a group of them were playing cricket in the
street) said 'Excuse me.'

'Yeah, what'

'Are you Roger Federer?'

They all stood quietly waiting for me to answer. 'Why do you want to
know?' I asked.

'My friends think you are'.

Needless to say I was taken aback a bit - kinda amused & momentarily
stumped for words.

'No, but I wish I was'.

Weird & ironic moment. Had to share.

My wife said a couple of the boys were keen tennis players.

God's punishing me.

Who here has seen the tv promo on TTC for Fed vs Sampras?

I noticed at the end of the promo their using words playing for history.
like this is a real atp match or something. guess they want to milk it
for all its worth. Federer will most likely roll over and let Pete win
again unfortunately. i can''t see Federer beating up on Sampras in
Madison square gardens. but if he does LOL-

Young matches his career wins in a week!

Author: Vari L. Cinicke

Donald Young put together b2b ATP wins and reached the QF of Memphis.
That matches his career ATP wins earned at New Haven and the US Open
last year.

He gets Bjorkman in the QF who may have bluffed his way past Sam Querrey
who served up 26 aces in a losing effort.

Can youth overcome experience and craftiness?

If Young does beat Bjorkman, he gets Steve Darcis (who won Amersfoort
last year when ranked close to #300) in the SF.

  Unlucky Losers in Zagreb

Author: Vari L. Cinicke

Llodra wins 2 titles in 2008 and pulls out of Zagreb. Lucky Loser #209
Stakhovsky replaces him and goes on to beat

#21 Karlovic
#113 Troicki
#44 Tipsarevic
#66 Bolelli

and reaches the final. It had been a long while since he beat anyone in
the Top 100 before this week. That is one lucky loser. Of course, he is
ranked low enough that he will still need to qualify for slams and most
ATP tournaments.

At least, he can get direct entry into qualies.

If he should win the tournament, he will surely make it to atptennis.com
front page. Fame for a week or a day.

  My favorite LOL

This scene always cracks me up. When the UN laughs at his first
ransom demand is funny, but about a minute in the gang all gets a good
little evil LOL in together is hilarious.

  Good riddance!

Francesca Schiavone (ITA) d. (1) Justine Henin (BEL) 76(3) 76(4)
(8) Elena Dementieva (RUS) d. (3) Ana Ivanovic (SRB) 57 63 63
(4) Jelena Jankovic (SRB) d. (6) Anna Chakvetadze (RUS) 61 ret. (left
thigh injury)

It was good to see the fist shakers get beat. Enough of Henin beating
up on the girls. Enough of Ivanovic's constant fist shaking. Enough of
Chakvetadze's double fist shaking.

Yesterday was a good day for women's tennis!

... finally some tennis on, which might mean some reasonable
discussion on here.

The last few weeks have been appalling here ...
