Just for the record, Januarie gets a lot of stick, and yet each time
he's selected for the Boks he delivers in his own way. Another good
game from him this weekend.

Tom Homer spent pretty much all of last season in the London Irish
starting 15 due to injury. He's got a lot to learn but can kick like a
mule and seems to have no nerves at all. IIRC he debuted in the Amlin
cup and kicked 8 out of 8 penalties and conversions, not all sitters.
He and Jamie Gibson are two of the highlights of what was for us a
pretty poor season all round.

Yeah, sad but true.

England:
D Armitage (London Irish); M Banahan (Bath), M Tait (Sale Sharks), O Barkley
(Bath), U Monye (Harlequins); C Hodgson (Sale Sharks), R Wigglesworth (Sale
Sharks); D Flatman (Bath), L Mears (Bath), D Wilson (Bath), D Attwood
(Gloucester), G Parling (Leicester), C Robshaw (Harlequins, capt), H Fourie
(Leeds), D Ward-Smith (Wasps).
Replacements: G Chuter (Leicester), P Doran-Jones (Gloucester), C Lawes
(Northampton), J Worsley (Wasps), P Hodgson (London Irish), S Geraghty
(Northampton), D Waldouck (Wasps).
If my eyes don't deceive me, that's an offloading pack with a specialist 7.
Plenty of ball carriers and if Mears can get his throwing right a nice
looking lineout. The scrum won't dominate, but in the loose they could be a
real handful if they can play their normal club game. It's a physical back
row with a really nice balance about it. Christ, is Wells finally getting
it? There's signs there that he might just be.
Defensively in the backs it's enough to give me the shits. I suspect Banahan
will be used to defend at 12 as he sometimes is for Bath, but can see the
Aussies running in a fair few tries.
Perhaps more interesting is what it hints at for the test side. It looks as
though the management have finally accepted that Tait is not going to be
Englands saviour at 13 (sorry Klitty), and that Foden...

Begs the question - why would you bother to spend your spare time toying
with mg?
