A stiff north-easterly has been blowing all morning at Nottingham -
despite the sculls and doubles being able to finish the course there
were four sinkings during the processional race for eights which then
had to be abandoned. A further announcement is expected at 1400hrs BST
regarding the race programme for the rest of the day (and indeed the
regatta, as forecasts seem to indicate that the wind will persist from
the NE and not moderate that much).

  A Question!!

Am I going mad?

Most weekends I watch the Junior "coaches" push their crews of the
landing stage and then stand around chatting and occassionally
shouting at the crews as they come past the club house. The very
newest beginners seem to go out in coxed quads, sometimes with adults
coxing, the slightly more experienced beginners just seem to get left
to their own devices in singles and doubles.

a) Is this normal?
b) Does this count as coaching?
c) Do you think it is safe? If not as a concerned club member what
would you do about it?
