FR. WILLIAM C. "BILL" HIBBERT
LONGTIME SCOUTER AND PRIEST ADVANCED SCOUTING IN THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Orion, MI, May 7, 2008: Although Fr. Bill Hibbert passed away on March
4, 2008, he will long be remembered by many as the unofficial
"National Chaplain" of Episcopal Scouting.
Fr. Bill was associated with Scouting for most of his adult life. To
honor him and his work to advance Scouting in the Episcopal Church,
the National Episcopal Scouters Association is developing a Unit Award
of Excellence. This award will recognize Scout units in Episcopal
parishes that meet several criteria for high quality programming, and
especially focusing on religious emblems awards and chaplain aide
leadership development. The award will be named in honor of Fr.
Hibbert, for his devotion and commitment to his faith and his
inspiring work in the Scouting program.
It is our sincere desire that Fr. Hibbert's ministry and memory will
be honored in this endeavor.
