  the great heatsink search

Author: Gary
Date: Jul 20, 2008 20:17

I'm finding that if you're looking for any heatsink that there are
zillions of places to pick one up and that if you are looking for
a particular sink that it is a futile task. With a little help
from my friends, I'm putting together the mosfet amp in the 2006
handbook and I've pretty much secured everything on the parts list save
the heatsink. It is the same unit that was used on the original FARA
amp as well. Anyone have this beast in the junk bin or know of a
purveyor who might?? I've scoured the web and no joy so far. The sink
is an AAVID part (#244609B02). Thanks in advance all.

FS: AT-271 Fishing Pole Antenna. .. Military Collapsible Antenna

Author: Norm VE3CZI

This portable antenna can be used for the top section of a Vertical Antenna
OR Horizontal elements for an Antenna System such as the Buddipole tm
...... A Great QRP / Portable Antenna weighs only 400 Grams [14 Oz ]
and measures 104" extended yet only 14" long when folded. Picture
The construction is the same as is used for sectional fishing poles. Each
of the 8 hollow tubular metal sections has a plug one one end and a socket
on the other end. All the sections are connected by a string made of either
a cloth or metal cord. At the bottom of the base element there's a spring
inside the tube to tension the cord. Some units may use an elastic
shock-cord material. This way all the elements are kept in order when
they are disconnected from each other and are held together...

  Measure Signal Generator with Oscilloscope?

Author: joshhemming
Date: Jul 17, 2008 11:50

I bought an old Heathkit IG-42 "Laboratory Generator" at a flea
market
the other day. It powers up OK but I don't have anything to test it
with except a TEK 465 O-scope. I looked for an output with the scope
but couldn't find anything. I know the scope is working because its
1K hz calibration signal looks fine.

The generator dial goes from 100 KC to 30 MC. Is this too high a
frequency to be monitored with a 465?

Help finding a couple of 790Mhz filters...

Author: ampsbasestation
Date: Jul 16, 2008 11:17

Hi All,

I am building another one of my toys http://tinyurl.com/6x3a9m and
need a couple more two pole Gigafil thro hole filters centered around
785Mhz - 795Mhz, I need this for the RX LO for Base Station receiver.
The last one was scavenged from an old AMPS phone, see http://tinyurl.com/626k4c.

Yes, I know that this isn't quite ham radio, but it is experimentation
just the same...

If anyone can help with either parts in the junk drawers, or know of a
supplier I will be most grateful. SMT parts will work at a pinch.

This is a non-commercial project.

Thanks,

Mark

  30s "homebrew" ham receiver project

Author: cloughbrengle

I thought you guys might be interested in my current restoration of a
30s "homebrew"
receiver. I put homebrew in quotes because I'm not 100%% sure it's not
commercial built
or maybe a prototype.
Here's a like to the first of the project web pages.

Recommendation for RF Prototype "Vector Board" with groundplane needed

Recommendation for RF Prototype "Vector Board" with groundplane needed

I am looking to prototype a couple of small boards containing LINX
TXM-433 LC and LR transmitter modules. These have pads on 0.1" centers
and thus will match the Vector board strips that I am familiar with.
However for this application, I need a ground plane under the module,
and so am looking for a "vector" board with strips, but without plated
through holes and ideally a solid ground plane on the reverse side. I
would prefer plated traces and fiberglass insulation.

These will be simple boards, a TXM-433-LC, a couple of 555 timers and
some discrete components.

Any recommendations?

2 phase AC to DC supply

Author: raypsi
Date: Jul 10, 2008 18:09

I searched but couldn't find anything on:

Using 2 transformers
running the primary of one right off the mains
running the other transformer primary in series
with a large motor run capacitor to phase shift
the primary 90 degrees.
Rectify and filter both secondaries
Diode "OR" the rectified filtered outputs.
This would give me better than double the frequency
As the phase shift would overlap the
120 cycle pulsating DC.

Basicly I have 2 Eico 751 power supplies.
I like to beef up the supply to my Eico 753.
