Here's some comparisons based on ARRL data:

Using a MFJ259B ( range: 1.8 to 174 MHz) myself I use it regularly for
the following :

1) Finding settings of an antenna matching unit (I prefer NOT to use
the word 'tuner') for the various HF bands.

2) Adjusting VHF antennas (gamma match) for minimum reflected power
(SWR)

3) Determining SWR curve of an antenna within a specific freq range
(part of the technical assessment for the UK Foundation Licence)

4) Determining coax loss

5) Determining inductance of resistors at various frequencies

6) Measuring value of inductors and capacitors at different frequencies

7) Measuring resonant freq of tuned circuits (including self resonance
of inductors /RF chokes)

What can the Palstar ZM30 do that the Kuranishi BR-210 can't do?

I know very little about what Analysers can be used for. So any help and/or
advice is welcome.

  Antenna Patern db over distance

Author: talkinggoat
Date: May 5, 2008 08:41

This is probably going to seem like a stupid question to most of you,
but I'm looking at an antenna pattern, which I've seen before. It's a
representation of db over degrees. It's the typical pattern showing
the lobes of the radiation that the antenna emits. My question is, on
what scale are the db represented over what distance? Is there some
universal preset saying that -10db is 100m or something like that?

Yagi near ground high lobe pattern...

After some time spend with an antenna simulator and changing yagi height
above the virtual simulated ground there seemed to be a minimum of high
angle lobes at 80..90 degr. when the antenna height reached 2 wavelength
above the virtual ground... This effect probably remain the same in each
2 wavelengths up.. ?

Just curious is the effect real, useful or detectable in real world or
used somewhere in ham world ?
