  Mounting a 1.25" mast to a wooden fence ...

Author: Bert Hyman
Date: May 15, 2008 12:46

I should be embarrassed to ask this question. Heck, I ->am embarrassed
to ask this question, but my handyman skills are non-existent, so here
I am.

I have a couple of sections of 1.25" steel antenna mast, and I'd like
to mount the bottom section to a wooden fence using the fence's three
horizontal 2x4 braces as the mount points.

I thought I'd just go to the hardware store and pick up a few pipe
clamps and I'd be done. However, it seems that no standard pipe or
tube actually has an OD of 1.25", so nothing in either the electrical
or plumbing sections will actually work.

As I said, my handyman skills are nil, so unless I can buy something
readymade to do the trick, it's going to turn into a real hack job.

What do I look for in the hardware store to pull this off?

  Wrist Rocket Height

Author: R.Scott
Date: May 15, 2008 09:46

I'm trying to restring my Dipole up in a Pine (the tree has grown
about 10 ft, and the rope needs replacing) so I got out my trusty
Surgical tubing wrist rocket and a 1oz egg weight tied to my 15# test
fishing rod/reel (only using the bottom eye).

No matter how far I pulled back I got about 2/3s of the way up. Im
estimating that is about the 35 ft level.

Shouldn't a wrister go farther ???? need bigger weight ?

Suggestions.

non mi intendo di scanner, e per puro sfizio vorrei comprarne uno che copra
almeno fino a 1 GHz (oltre non mi interessa). Secondo voi lo Yaesu VR-500 va
bene? Mi hanno proposto uno usato per 150 Euri. Troppo, poco, boh? Grazie a
quanti vorranno darmi un consiglio.

Thinking of putting a vertical up. I'd go from 2" pvc, to 1", to 1/2" , in
twenty foot lengths. Will this thing support itself OK? Seems like it
might physically work OK.
